Study Guides The Biblical Family Examples From God For The Family All Lessons are done in the "King James Bible" Activities
At Faith Baptist Church we are very passionate about the family. We believe that if the families of the church are not being ministered to or growing, then not only does the family suffer, but the church as a whole suffers as well. We have been very blessed with many young people at this church. In fact, in the 16 year history of Faith Baptist Church, never have there been more people under the age of 20 than there are right now. There are great benefits to having so many babies, children, and youth around the church. A few of these are the excitement and life that youth produces within the services, plenty of willing workers for all different kinds of events and activities, and a bright and hopeful future of young men and women to step in and fill many of the vacant positions as teachers, preachers, moms, and dads that time will create. But with the blessings of the abundance of youth comes a tremendous responsibility. It is a responsibility that much of the world has forgotten. It is not the responsibility to provide a good education, for, never has it been easier for a child to receive a wonderful education. It isn’t simply the responsibility to provide a safe home to live in, though that is very important. At Faith Baptist Church we believe that greatest responsibility a parent or grandparent has is to “Train up a child in the way he should go…” (Proverbs 22:6). This has become the driving force behind all that we do at our church. If we fail to raise our children to obey, fear, and honor the Lord, then the family will fail. And if the family fails, then we have lost the greatest resource available in our efforts to please God and win the lost…our children. It is with all of this in mind that we have structured our Sunday School. Unlike most traditional churches, we do not separate the children from their parents. Instead we have a combined class where the lesson is taught in a way that the whole family learns together. At Faith Baptist Church families arrive as a family, they learn as a family, and they grow as a family. In addition to the Family School format, each week every family is given a basic devotion guide for the week. In this guide is contained the outline for the following week of Family School. We provide this so that parents (if they so choose) can have family devotions during the week on a certain topic, and then when they bring their children to church the next week, they hear the teacher or pastor reinforcing what their parents have already taught. We believe that this is in line with scripture Deuteronomy 6:7 “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Throughout the Bible we find that God expects the parents, not the church, to teach the children. At the top of this page you will find a link for this week’s Devotion Guide as well as the Devotion Guide for the last few weeks. You will also find activities, puzzles, and coloring sheets that will help you teach the younger children the Word of God.
